Who is Lisa Asha Rapp?

Asha? A sacred name lovingly given to her at the Satchidananda Ashram, the devangari translation is Hope.

Lisa was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and as many practitioners did she began asana at a young age with Lilias Folan by watching the 1970’s PBS’ television series “Lilias! Yoga and You”.It was more than 20 years when she found her first teacher Nancy LaNasa (Abhaya Yoga Center, Pensacola, FL) where the seed of love, compassion, and discipline were forever planted into her heart through the practice of Jivamukti Yoga. After 18 months under Nancy’s tutelage she and her family made a move to Norfolk, Virginia where Nancy urged Lisa to study yoga at the Satchidananda Ashram lovingly known as Yogaville. It was there that she was blessed to sit at the holy feet of Sri Swami Satchidananda who she and many reverently refer to as Sri Gurudev and upon completion of Integral Yoga Teacher Training came the birth of My Yoga Spirit; Norfolk’s first spiritually based yoga center.MYS remained open for 9 years and in the interim Lisa was blessed to find herself at the 2005 Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training where she would find herself at the holy feet of David Life and Sharon Gannon. This too would be where she would meet a teacher that spoke to her heart on the deepest of levels through the love of Sanskrit, the dearly loved Manorama-ji who is reverently referred to as Guru Ma as well as her mentor today and always beloved Lady Ruth Lauer-Manenti.Lisa accredits her teachers for everything she is today and devotes all to them. Every one of those teachers is in the room with her when she guides a class.Lisa has been married to Mike Rapp for over 25 years and has 3 beautiful children, Dominic (28), Andrew (24), and Angel (22).In the summer of 2015 Mike and Lisa made their move to St. Louis Missouri where Lisa is currently offering Jivamukti Yoga cases at Yoga Six, Highlands St. Louis.
